How the prints are made
The art is a catalogue of its own. From a cherry-wood block cut two centuries ago to a tube on your doorstep, in four steps.
The block
Each of these images began as a set of cherry-wood blocks, one cut for every colour, printed by hand onto damp paper. The marks used throughout this site are the printer's own registration marks, which are what kept those colours in line.
The record
The Metropolitan Museum of Art photographed the impressions in its collection and released them under Open Access. Every plate here links to its record, so you can see the object we printed from before you buy.
The sheet
Giclée pigment on 200gsm enhanced matte art paper, printed to order in the United States. Nothing sits in a warehouse, which is also why nothing here is ever discounted to clear.
The tube
Rolled and posted in a rigid tube, 2 to 4 business days to print and 3 to 7 in transit. Unframed and unmounted, so the sheet is yours to hang however you want it.
